Shimmied through my week

49 Flares 49 Flares ×

Yay! Ten Things of Thankful again hosted by my bloggy friend, Lizzi at Considerings.  I have so much to tell you.  Without boring you with words, I’m going to jump into it.

First and most important news, I’m very excited about a new legal team member. I was told by my attorney that I got 3 more depositions coming at me the second week of February and one in March. What does a woman who deals with a bunch of idiots and thieves to protect her cousins and who has mood swings, bitchiness and hot flashes do? I thought about it long and hard. I had two choices. One is turn to alcohol or two, hire another attorney and let him deal with it all. I’m happy to tell you that with the help  of my friend in Canada, Ghada, we were successful in recruiting our new man. Take a look. I think he would help a lot next week in court. Thank God the justice system is closed on weekends so he can pursue his passion.

My father got very ill this past week. I’m heart broke and refuse to think about what could be next. My brothers traveled to Beirut to be with him and my mother. They arrived safely and my father was alert enough to see them. I AM SO THANKFUL that I had a fabulous time with him in September 2013. Please pray for him.

I couldn’t have asked for a better father. I love you Dad!

Fourteen years ago, I found out I was pregnant for the third time. How could that have happened? I can hear you say duhhh.. I know how it happened. My husband had a vasectomy five years earlier and the milk man wasn’t that cute.  I couldn’t afford another baby and I cried my eyes out. My daughter was in Kindergarten and my son was in 2nd grade. I was ready for the next phase in my life but guess what? It wasn’t up to me, the big man up there had a different plan. I’m so glad HE did. Sami turned 14 this week. I thank God everyday for my miracle baby. While my Daniel and Mariana are away in college, I get to watch Harry Potter and eat Pizza with Sami. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAMI!

I was feeling knocked down and  slouched on my couch when I read Livin’ large in Zumba Land posted by Marcia at Menopausal Mother. I tried to comment on the post couple of times but my IPAD wouldn’t co-operate so I gave up, stopped answering my phone and turned on the TV. I heard a whistle coming from my phone. Ok, ok, I got up to check it. It was Catherine from Hips In Motion. A good friend and Belly Dancing, Zumba and everything Queen/Instructor. She said, Lifetime Fitness is having a special, are you coming back? How weird was that? It was a sign.

Go Go Girl, get your lazy derriere up and get to the gym.

The Master of all workouts, Catherine LeBlanc

Hey y’ all, I still got my groove

Me wanna be after my workout

We had the honor of  visiting with Diana Nyad who was the first person to swim from Cuba to Key West, Florida at age 64. What an amazing woman! We spent a beautiful evening listening to her inspirational speech and her life story.  Today, Billy rode 60 miles for The Clay Walker MS bike ride. I belly danced some more.  We are very motivated!

Cousin Mike and his celli Benites send their love and are thankful for all your prayers, comments and support for them. They look forward to reading the posts and to more prayers. Keep them coming.

And finally, my week could not be complete without the good old random pat down from the prison system for “possible contact with illegal substance”. I’m beginning to think that this is their way of saying hello to me.

And for those of you out of there waiting for me to run out of energy and money. With Billy being lead on my legal team and the help of Belly Dancing and Zumba sisters,  I feel so energized again. I can shimmy my way through any stone you throw at me. Bring it on!

This week I’m thankful for my friend, Nizar Hakiki who has been through his own hell with my cousins because of my snitch cousin Moe’s lies. He continues to check on me and help me. I’m sorry!  I’m also thankful for all of those that came up to me at the gym, hugged me and welcomed me back. I’m thankful for every breath I take.

What are you thankful for this week?

Have a fantastic week!

Manal, your father is in the prayers of all at the TTOT. He will get better soon! Thanks for sharing with us, and I’ll send up a prayer petition for your dad tonight.

  4. This is an AWESOMELY good week, Manal, and your courage and fortitude shine through. I’m so pleased you have a new legal bod on your team, and I hope he makes all the difference for you, cos honestly, it sounds as though the case needs expert handling.

Well done for getting back into dancing and for having such a positive attitude towards it. I love that all your gym people were happy to see you back amongst them.

I hope your dad recovers quickly, and that you get to spend much more wonderful time with him. REALLY hoping that you post a TToT soon, saying he’s better. Prayers for him and you, as it must be hard to be so far away from him now, even if your brothers are with him.

Happy Birthday to Sami :) I’m glad it’s been such a wonderful time of celebration and life and excitement.

Glad to hear about the addition to your team; thinking of your father; happy about the dancing; and I ADORE the “Cheers to my Haters” picture. I may just “borrow” it if it’s okay with you and you promise not to sic the legal team on me….

Right? I want to look like her too. If I squeeze my boobs real hard, I might achieve a little of that look, lol..Not sure about the tight abs, lots of work and I’m too lazy.
Thank you, thank you.. I make fun of my problems and hope they get easier and they do. My friend said, “I was with you last week but none of that stuff was funny but I was cracking up when I was reading the post”.

    • Go Go Girl says:

Thanks Zoe for the birthday wishes and for Dad’s prayers. Yes, my dad is so sweet and I have such great memories of him while growing up. Every Saturday afternoon, he would take us to the grocery store and buy us the biggest chocolate bars available. He did it with my children when we went home:) Thanks for reading and hope you have a beautiful week!

  13. It’s got to be really hard being so far away from your father when he’s ill. Holding you all in the light!

Thank you so much Phoebe! Yes, it’s very hard. I feel that my parents have made a huge sacrifice to give us a better life by letting us leave to the US. I’m going to be more selfish with my kids and keep them close to me. Thanks for reading my post! Happy Monday:)

  14. yow! belly dancers! (as the only representatives of the Y Chrome District among the hosts of the TToT) I will say, ‘excellent post and yeah, belly dancing is surely the among the best forms of exercise and staying fit and such!’)

Happy Birthday Sami! I had a surprise baby too… that was pre-vasectomy and I still have nightmares…uh, fears that we will get *another* surprise. I’ve heard too many stories like yours!

Praying for your father .. it must be so hard to be so far away from him. But, how nice it is that there is family around/near him.

  21. Manal, I wish Sami a very very very happy birthday and you’re right – God does surprise us with the best of things, doesn’t he? I didn’t think I’d ever get pregnant and did at age 40 and I’m so thankful to be my age raising a 4 year old. I’m really happy for you too that you got new help to fight that rotten snitch Moe and hope that this will be the extra push that you and your family needs to make things right.
Oh and that fireman? YUM. Congratulations on rejoining the gym too and I’ll definitely keep your father in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you so much Kristi for all the well wishes and the prayers for my dad. When I was pregnant with Sami, all I could think about was on my 40th birthday I would have a 3 year old. That was the best gift ever. God bless you and lots of hugs to you and Tucker :)

  22. Hey awesome lady, thank you so much for the shout-out! Is zumba amazing or what? I cringe a bit when I watch myself in the mirror huffing and puffing through the moves, but I feel TERRIFIC once I’m done…..empowered, even! I love your positive attitude and your energy, Manal. You truly are an inspiration!! XO

  23. Dabi Stathakopoulos says:

    My Dear Manal
You have created a lovely blog, when I look at your photo I can still see that curious energetic young girl who was always dancing. It’s lovely that you still are. You have done so much with your life and you have an amazing family , I am bursting with pride for you. I am sorry to hear AbuTanal ( Amuo?) is ill. And I have been thinking back to those years when I was an insecure teenager in love with your brother. Your family treated me very well. And after we ran off and got married they literally clothed and housed me in Abidjan. I am actually embarrassed now when I think back at their incredible generosity. It’s mind boggling. I remember one afternoon your father taking the time to show me how to make coffee. I will be forever grateful for the kindness and incredible generosity you , your parents and siblings showed me all those years ago. You all helped shaped who I grew up to be, seriously, I always grab the check and wear great perfume ; ) Please give your father a kiss for me and let him know he and Tante ? are loved around the world , including Seattle. And thank them , they made my life better. I will be forever grateful.
    I wish you all well

    Much love

    • Go Go Girl says:

Oh Dabi!!! That’s such a beautiful note and I will make sure to share it with Mom and Dad. He is doing much better but it’s sad to see them grow older. You hold a very special place in my heart and I hope to see you when and if I go to Seattle unless you make a trip to Texas. Hugs, kisses and much love to you:)

  24. I’m very glad to have stumbled on to your blog. You have a serious funny bone. I can’t imagine having just gotten the 2nd off to kindergarten and then SURPRISE!… but a wonderful surprise–after the shock wore off I bet.

    • Go Go Girl says:

Yes, it was a great shock but I’m so glad it happened. There’s a reason for everything in life. I’m so happy you found my blog and I look forward to seeing you around :)

  25. Isn’t it sad that something sad has to happen to feel thankful? Thanks for reminding me to be thankful (for my family and friends) without the hardships!
